Romans 8:7-8 states, “The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God;it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.”
Verse 7 could be interpreted to mean, "Because the carnal mind is an enemy towards God it not only rejects His law but is also unable to obey it.
Verse 8 continues, "So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.”
These verses highlight two ways of life: one governed by the flesh and one governed by the Spirit.
The "mind of the flesh" refers to thinking and living focused on self-centered desires and worldly pursuits which are at odds with God's will.
In contrast, those who are "in the Spirit" are those who have been transformed by God's and are able to live in accordance with His law and please Him.
Father God, may we constantly fill our hearts and minds with Your word so we won’t be hostile towards You because when we’re not in line with Your law we will struggle to submit to it.
Help us walk in the Holy Spirt to please You because when we desire the flesh we are not only unable to please You we reject You.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.🙏🏽
