The world says "follow your heart" but  Matthew 16:24 says:

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

To deny oneself and pick up the cross means to give up those habits that hinder our relationship with God. We need to guard our heart against anything that will bind us to the world. As followers of Jesus we shouldn't entertain bad thoughts or desires but instead bind and remove every evil thought and desire.

If we can't be distinguished from the worldly flesh and desires we're part of it.

Father God whatever we do today let it be to honor You. May every thought and action today be made denying ourselves, carrying our cross and be out of love for God and the price that was paid at Calvary. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
