Happy Memorial Day

Today is the day for honoring those personnel who died while serving in our Armed Forces.

Some gave some and some gave all.

John 15:13 says

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

In the final hours of Christ’s crucifixion He was with his closest friends. Friends that had walked, eaten, slept, and marched with Him for three and a half years. Friends that had been given apostolic power to heal the sick, cast out demons, and raise the dead.

These same friends abandoned Him, denied Him and betrayed Him so that the Scriptures may be fulfilled which were spoken by the prophets:

"Even my own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, who did eat of my bread, has lifted up his heel against me," for it is written: "I will strike the Shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered."

Christ was made an offering for sin of the whole world, but He willingly went to the Cross as a freewill offering of love for his friends who are His Body, the Church.

Jesus loved and cherished us so dearly He gave Himself: "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down His life for His friends."

Father God, Today we pray and remember those who courageously laid down their lives for the freedom we enjoy. May their sacrifice inspire in us the selfless love of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen 🙏🏽
