Amen and Hallelujah

James 4:10-12

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?

Part of our motivation for living according to worldly values is to seek glory or recognition. Our flesh wants respect we feel we deserve, or to satisfy pleasure we crave. God asks us to quit the world's way of pursuing things and trust Him to exalt us when the time is right.

God will make it about us when and how He sees fit.

Jesus, refused to be glorified and made himself a servant, even to death.

When the time was right, the Father exalted Jesus to the highest place and gave Him the name above every name.

James also warns his readers not to turn on each other in slander or in judgment. To judge someone is to assume a position of authority over them. If we're going to obey the Law just do it without judging others.

James urges us to walk in humility in our relationship with God and with each other.

God is the only Lawgiver and Judge able to save or destroy. If we're forgiven by the Judge by His grace through faith in Christ, we are saved, so we're not in a position to pronounce any verdict against others based on our own judgment.

Father God , may we be doers of Your law and not judge it or condemn others. Lord, only You can judge and we haven't the right to self-righteously condemn others. Keep us humble so will be an encouragement to others , and not their accuser. Don't let us be wise in our own eyes or make assumptions about the motives of others. Above all, teach us to love others as Christ loved us. In Jesus name we pray, 🙏🏽
