Gracie’s New Digs

Breaking news! Gracie has officially checked out of the ICU penthouse and settled into Room 331 on the 3rd floor. The ICU is now reserved for a patient who really needs it, and Gracie’s status is safely out of ICU territory. (I’ll admit, I had a little “Carmen doubt” that she might just be pulling our leg, but nope, she’s genuinely NOT ICU status!)

Momma Bear Mode

Gracie’s inner momma bear was in full force overnight. Every time she opened her eyes, there she was, telling me to get cozy, find a pillow, or prop up my feet. After all her caring, I finally settled in around 11 p.m., but by 3:30 a.m., we were up and ready for the transfer to her new spot.

Room 331 Highlights

Familiar Faces: Her teacher friend’s daughter Aubrey, an RN, is working the same floor (not Gracie’s nurse, but still nice to see a friendly face).

Nurse Tina: Her RN’s name is Tina, just not this Tina! 😉

Medical Update

Pain Patrol: They’re managing her discomfort with morphine, and we’re waiting on the gastroenterologist and Dr. Ortiz for the next steps. It seems like the gallstone theory is out, so the mystery continues, but they’re running every scan they’ve got (MRI, CT, and sonogram).

Current Status: Somewhere between “out of ICU” and “still waiting for a conclusive answer.” Meanwhile, she’s slipping in and out of sleep, and I’m trying to catch a few zzzs here and there myself.

Prayer Requests

1. For answers and clarity,

2. For Gracie’s pain relief

3. Continued strength (and peace) for Mom

4. Patience (for all of us!)

5. The Lord our Gods hand will be evident to all

We’re thankful for the progress and trusting the process. Updates to come as the journey unfolds!

in Christ,

the Villarreals
