Dear Familia, Friends and Prayer Warriors,
We petition your prayers regarding Mom's post-surgery care plan. Despite our understanding that Mom would be transferred to Corpus Christi Rehabilitation Hospital for her post-surgery recovery, we're now facing unexpected obstacles. Christus Surgical Hospital's case manager is considering discharging her home tomorrow instead of providing the rehabilitation care she clearly qualifies for and needs.
The frustrating reality is that these hurdles appear to be purely administrative - insurance networks, coverage limitations, and financial considerations. As many of you know all too well, these systems often prioritize bottom lines over patient care.
This situation is particularly concerning given Mom's complex medical history:
Congestive heart failure earlier this year
Stage 3 kidney disease (renal failure)
Pending right knee replacement
Recent shoulder surgery
We firmly believe that sending her home at this stage, instead of to rehabilitation, would not serve her best interests or recovery. The timing is especially challenging as I (Tina) am currently out of town, and Gracie is still recovering from her own complicated gallbladder surgery last week.
On a positive note, Mom did make some progress today - she was able to get out of bed and sit in a chair for several hours, even eating her dinner there. However, as the nerve block begins to wear off, she's experiencing increased discomfort.
Please pray specifically:
For the Lord's intervention in securing Mom's place at CC Rehabilitation
For His hand to be evident in working out all the details
For wisdom and favor with insurance and hospital administrators
For Mom's comfort as the nerve block subsides
For peace of mind for our entire family during this uncertain time
We continue to put our trust in God and His provisions and appreciate your continued prayers, love, and support.
In Christ,
The Villarreals
